The Rocket Liquidity Provider vault
A community-owned pool that provides liquidity, runs market making and stands behind liquidations — with a 0% operator fee, and with the risk published rather than hidden.
What it is for
Most traders want to take a view. Someone still has to quote the other side of the book, and someone still has to take on positions that must be closed when a trader's margin fails. The Rocket Liquidity Provider vault is that someone: a community-owned, protocol-run pool that provides liquidity, runs market making strategies, and handles liquidations.
Depositing USDC from your trading balance buys a share of that activity. You are not running a market making desk, and you are not lending to one. You are in the same pool the protocol uses to keep its own markets functioning.
Why the operator fee is 0%
The operator is Rocket itself. Both the operator fee and the minimum operator share are 0%. The vault is infrastructure for the exchange rather than a yield product with a cut taken off the top. Whatever the strategy makes or loses is what depositors make or lose.
That is unusual. Most vault products exist to generate a fee for the operator. This one exists because the exchange needs a liquidity backstop, and putting that backstop in a pool depositors can join is more transparent than hiding it on a house account.
Why auction matching changes the economics
A market maker on a continuous book is systematically picked off: when fair value moves, the fastest takers lift quotes that have not been pulled yet. The defence is to widen spreads and show less size, which is worse for everyone including the vault.
Rocket's micro auctions damp that. Each block clears at one uniform price, and orders inside it are simultaneous, so a quote left standing when the price moves is cushioned by the new interest in the same batch rather than sniped at the stale price. A pool that is not being adversely selected every block can quote tighter and deeper — which is why this vault belongs on this exchange in particular.
Deposits, withdrawals and what you can see
Deposits move USDC from your Rocket trading balance into the vault; withdrawals move it back. Both are instant and fee-free, with no lock-up. You fund the trading account first — from Arbitrum directly, or from Ethereum or Base via rhino.fi — then allocate part of that balance to the vault.
The page publishes APR, total value locked, your balance and all-time profit or loss, plus Sharpe ratio, average daily returns, returns volatility and maximum drawdown, and live cross leverage, margin usage, margin ratio and unrealised PnL. Balances, open positions, open orders, trade history, the depositor list and transfers are all visible. Because settlement is onchain, the same activity can be checked on the Rocketberg explorer.
The risk is the point
This is not a fixed-yield product. The vault takes trading risk: it quotes markets and it absorbs liquidations. Liquidations cluster when markets move violently, which is exactly when a backstop earns the least and is exposed the most. Past APR is a record of what the strategy has done, not a projection of what it will do.
Deposit only what you can afford to see fall in value. The published risk statistics exist so you can price that, rather than treating the vault as a savings account with a nicer rate.
Frequently asked questions
What is the Rocket Liquidity Provider vault?
A community-owned, protocol-run pool that provides liquidity to Rocket, runs market making strategies and handles liquidations. Depositors supply USDC and share in the results of that activity.
What fee does the operator charge?
Zero. The operator is Rocket, and both the operator fee and the minimum operator share are 0%.
Can I withdraw at any time?
Yes. Withdrawals convert your vault holding back to USDC on your trading balance. They are instant, fee-free, and there is no lock-up.
Does the vault have a guaranteed return?
No. It carries real trading risk and can lose money, particularly when liquidations cluster. APR on the page is historical, not a promise.
How do I deposit?
Fund your Rocket trading balance with USDC first, then move part of that balance into the vault from the vaults page. Vault deposits do not come straight from your wallet.
